I just recently purchased a 1899 in 303. I bought it on the spur of the moment and now wondering if I got stuck. Prices seem to be all over the place.....Im going to try and post some pics so yall maybe can help me out on the real world value. Plus Im wanting to clean it up and what to make sure I don't ruin it. It I new ammo was so hard to find I probably wouldn't have bought it,LOL

bertram and others still make the brass.Reloading is the only decent option to buying custom ammo.If you look enough you will find it.Check with grafs and think prvi partizan makes brass and loaded ammo.I have one too(take down) and I finally did some dealing for quite a few cases which is what I needed. These guns in this caliber were very sought after by maine hunting guides in the early half of the 20th century. They were a favorite for in close moose hunting in maine. It is only alittle more powerful than the 30-30.

Well howdy from Texas,

I saw at an academy store down here they had multiple choices of 303 on the shelves and I don't recall the price being out of hand.

But was it .303 British or .303 Savage? .303 British brass is easy to find but they're two totally different cases.

I thought it was British, but I thought I remember 5 selections, I was just after rim fire stuff and it caught my eye. I think I'm going to go back up there next week I'll look harder this time.

Good luck. I got some 150 RNSP from them a while back with properly stamped Privi brass. Seems to be good stuff.
