Ok guys,
Dial me in on some back ground for the 7mmSTW? It has a 26" SS BULL barrel.

Range with good reloads?
Cost of the rifle?
Trigger is 7oz on my gauge! Feather lite !!!

Thanks ,
Jimbo

the 7 stw is based off the 8mm mag case necked down to 7mm. it has been around for a considerable time
now maybe 30 years. although originaly a wildcat it became a factory chambering by several companies.
balisticly it would be pretty much identicle to the 7x300 weatherby which is the 300 weatherby necked to 7mm.
ive been using a 7x300 weatherby for long range hunting for about 40 years. with a 9 twist barrel you will be
able to shoot up to at least 175 gr bullets and probably 180s with good accuracy. i use 162 gr hornadys in my gun.
good powders would be h 1000 and 7828 and no doubt a few others.
the 7 mm ultramag would have a slight advantage as for velocity over both others if loaded to max.
we use the 7x300 mostly in our camp for shots up to about 1000yds. beyond that distance larger bullets are advisable in my opinion.
