11-VT from Dicks (what action does it use)

Hello Everyone,

First post on the forum, not a Savage owner yet but hoping to be soon as I'm looking for the right rifle. I'm looking at the 11-VT from Dicks and I'm wondering which action this gun is built on. Does anyone have any information on it? Thanks

Welcome.

It uses what is called the short action. The two digit model numbers 10, 11, 12, 14 and 16 are shorts that share the same action design. The long actions are three digits 110, 111, 112, 114, 116.

So aside from the Long/Short, all the savages use the same action? There isn't a good, bad or ugly version action to go with or avoid?

Some are just finished better than others

Things to think about... Long vs. Short, Large shank vs. Small shank. Finishes are different between models, as well as sizes.
