I am looking at picking up a single shot LRPV in a .223 with a 1 in 7 twist and was wondering if I should have it bedded? If so what is involved in bedding this rifle?

Also anyone happen to have pictures of one of these tore down or pics of the inside of the stock?

Thanks

H&S Precision does not recommend bedding their aluminum stocks. However, I did it once and it made no difference whatsoever on a remington 700 shilen barrelled 22-250AI. I would suggest not wasting your time.

Very coincidental as I was about to ask the same question but in regards to the BVSS and can anyone tell me if pillar bedding should be done in conjunction with bedding and what is meant by floating the barrel?

Also rather than attempting it myself I would like it done by someone with a lot of experience in the practice. Any recommendations?

TrxR Don't mean to high jack your thread just trying to kill two birds with one stone. I see SteveinWV has a reply to you initial question? Steve can you elaborate?

Aluminum pillar bedding is a good idea. I glass bedded my 112VLP 25-06 which was already pillar bedded from the factory. It does help, on a laminated gun, to prevent rocking of the action in the stock. The reason the H&S doesn't matter is because the aluminum bedding already has a high spot on each side of the front action screw to cradle the action without having to be a perfect fit. These high spots prevent the rocking.

I had some excellent pictures somewhere that I had planned to reference when it got to this point. Can't find them any where. Thanks for the info.

Other than a small amount of bedding resin in the recoil lug slot (which may or may not help), I can imagine a half ass bedding job actually f'ing up a H&S stock.
