"Best value" is unanswerable for anyone but themselves....
I have had great results with Shaw, and poor with Hart. A hunting partner has had the opposite.

Did you have problems with your Shaw destroying your brass? I've heard from some people that their shaws shoot great but are rough on brass.

I have had several Shaw barrels. They always fixed issues(eating brass at the shoulder). One 7mm08 was hard to get it to shoot anything larger that 3 shot one hole group @ 100

The problem with Shaw barrels is that they just try to produce as many as they can. I have fixed dozens of them because they tell the customer "they are good enough" or "they meet our specs". They get gulling in the chamber and the brass expands and fills that area and makes for a hard extraction. Also they have problems with too deep of chamber. I have a customer with a 6mm AI that the chamber was cut oblong and too deep. It was pretty expensive from them because he had it fluted and everything. His first loads through the gun (4grs under max) he blew a case head off. Brought it into me and I checked it (after removing the case) it was .050" deep and close to that out of round. He sent it back to them and they said it was in their specs. Of course he wasn't a happy customer after that. I rechambered it to 6x284w so he could at least use it.

Kind of glad there weren't any E.R. Shaw barrels available when I was shopping after reading this post! I ended up getting a McGowen through Gun Shack.

That's amazing. I couldn't be proud of my product. But I've decided on shilen or criterion. Any suggestions? They're both around the same price, I've heard great things about them and the price quite reasonable. Jim from northland is a heck of a nice guy.

Don't sell out on that pac-nor so easy. My most accurate rifle wears a pac-nor. They make great barrels

I was thinking Pac nor but I think shilen and criterion are cheaper

I have a 6BR Criterion and 2 of my buddies both bought 243AI's from Criterion. All 3 are real shooters and clean up easily. My 6BR shoots most anything I have thrown into it. It puts most bullets into .3-.4" range @ 100yds.

I think I'll go with criterion. I might go 6.5 creedmore. Its a nice round.

The Shaw 308 I have shoots under 1" at 200 and isn't hard on my Lapua brass at all. It's a package deal w/wrenches,headspace gages and cleaning paste.Works with 125's,150's and 168's.

i have had or have several Shaw barrels and have 3 McGowens and have worked with a couple of Criterions. All have been good shooters, of the McGowens my 223 is the easiest to load for it seems to like anything you put into it.
