http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu16/soumigirl/bth_7mmsaumrifles004_zps8795beb5.jpgHere are 2 7mm SAUM rifles we use for hunting, the black one has a CBI barrel and has been used by my daughter to hunt and make some dedicated bench rest rifles look really bad will hold .1-.2 5 shot groups all day not hero groups but real sub .25 groups all the time with a 20 inch barrel(gotta love berger 168vld hunters). The camo is a factory saum rifle I just bought off Arms list for a song, cut the barrel down to 18 inch added a stock I bought from boilerup on here and now it shoots in the .7-.8 range with barnes 168lrx bullets, surprised because its supposed to be a 1-9.25 twist. Just thought I would share because we had a good day at range today.

sub .25 groups all the time

That definitely qualifies as "hero group" stuff and if you are in the one's for five shots that qualifies as a center-to-center one hole group.

I don't usually do this but I will brag my kid up a little and make sure I am measuring groups right, here is a photo of 3 168 VLD Hunters first at 100yds she was aiming where that line meets the outer circle her zero is for 300yds I think.http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu16/soumigirl/th_groups002_zpsea72388c.jpgThen here is 5 of the same at 200yds I showed how I measure from outside of farthest part and minus bullet diameter if I am doing it wrong help me out, the 100yd group is crazy small and I didn't try. CBI needs some love on this sight, her 308 f class barrel will shoot .3 to .4 all day with 215 bergers not the best free bore for that bullet but gets it done. These CBI barrels are fast also.http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu16/soumigirl/bth_groups004_zpsa49715a4.jpg

She is quite a shooter. I petty the deer that steps into her sight.

Yeah she puts time into it, member of Michigan F/TR team and shoots small bore/Air Rifle all winter probably pulls the trigger over 8000 times a year between all of them. My 14 year old son will hopefully catch on and enjoy sport also.

Great shooting. Could you tell me what powder your using on the 215's in the 308?

Lots of Varget, brass gets 2 firings with lapua brass and then the primer pockets are junk.

Thanks, I thought about trying them with RL 15/17. I use the 215 in my 300 wm but will probably hold off until they are on the market again. They seem to be made of unobtainium at present.

Very nice! Care to share load data/ seating depth of the suam launching the 168 vlds? I'm about to order a McGowan 26". Its going to be a hunting rifle primarily, but I wouldn't mind seeing what its capable of with the vld. I am extremely hopeful that hornady comes to their senses before next spring and starts putting out the 162 amax bullets again. They are accurate, high BC, and get the job done on big game - great all around bullet, IMO.
AZ just legalized suppressed hunting so the ultimate goal is to cut it down to 22" and silence it. Should still do the job on whitetail out to 500 and elk(should I be so lucky) to 300.

Not a problem but check your seating depth and work up even though my loads aren't that warm. Load is 60grains of H4831sc in Remington Brass with coal at 2.950 these fit in the Savage magazine just barely(168 grain berger hunting VLD). We use these rifles for hunting mostly also, the LRP saum is just so accurate its fun to let her harass the benchrest guys.

I just noticed CBI has a thing under media about her shooting their barrels she is very happy, thanks CBI.
