I picked up some 168gr VLD today, I was doing some reading and there`s a VLD chamfer tool. Is this needed or just go with a regular de-burr and chamfer ??

The VLD chamfer tool is not designed for the Berger bullets any more than it is for other brands. What it does is cut the case mouth chamfer at a shallower angle than a regular chamfer/deburring tool. I use one and it really helps, especially when seating flat base bullets. I have not crumpled a .22 Hornet case neck since I started using it.

I bought a set of metal countersink bits which I use for chamfering. Each bit has a different cutting angle. I have six bits and this allows me to use the best fitting one for each caliber. The smallest bit works great for .223 and the largest chamfers 45 cases just right. I chuck them in my drill press and use a reloading block with tight holes to hold the cases which have been all trimmed to the same length. I allow enough space berween the cases so I can hold them with my fingers. A light touch is required but it comes easy with practise.

The Lyman VLD Inside de burring tool it the only one to have. Great tool and keeps you from having to work so hard to get that burr out of the neck bore.

I use the Lyman VLD cutter as well. Excellent tool.
Also, I only chamfer if I have to cut the case length after sizing to remove the burr. Boat tails don't need a chamfer & I only use two types of flat bottoms.
