Just bought a Hog Hunter in 308, my question ?

What is the outside diameter of the end of the barrel before it steps down to the 5/8-24 thread.

Want info so I order the right size muzzle break, gun is on its way to my FFL, then it has to stay in gun jail for ten days

Was there a problem with his barrel, or did the customer just want a different configuration or caliber ?

wlleven,

If you are curious about accuracy, every one that I have seen will shoot very good groups. you will see more drop at 300 plus yards that you will see in a longer barrel. How far do you plan on shooting?

300 yds would be a long shot for me.

I plan on setting the gun up using Barnes or ? copper bullets as in Kalifornia there are many zones that you can't hunt with lead. I will be using it for pig hunting and will use a 165 gr bullet as minimum, I would like to shoot 180's in the 2550fps range if I could do it.

I plan on keeping the gun factory, except for the JP Cooley muzzle break I just purchased today.

I have a little Weaver 1-3x scope and I have Leopold quick release rings. I will sight in the gun with iron sights as best I can at 100yds, I plan on then sighting in the rifle with the scope at about 2' high at 100yds.

Those are my plans, when the gun is put together I will send pics.

Well after I made this quote I have been doing some serious reading up on copper bullets, and just may have to change my way of thinking.

It seems that copper bullets don't come apart like copper jacketed bullets do and that velocity is very much a factor. I just may go with 130gr to 150gr for hogs, and pushed a bit ?

Have any of you used the Barnes 130gr bullet for hog ?
