This is my first "build". I bought the rifle a few years ago on Gunbroker, its a left-hand Model 16 chambered in 270 WSM. I used JB Weld, and bedded some threaded steel rod running parallel in the forearm area of the stock, and then running perpendicular around the sling swivel stud, to give stability when a bipod is being used. I also added some steel rod in the butt stock to keep the rifle balanced well. I also skim bedded the action with JB Weld. Finally, I added a Limbsaver recoil pad, and painted the stock a camo pattern.
I put a TPS 0MOA steel base and TPS steel rings on it, with a Viper Vortex 6.5-20x44 BDC scope. I finally got out yesterday morning to put some rounds through it. I've come to love the Nosler Custom and Nosler Trophy's with 140g Accubonds for this rifle. The Customs especially, are laser accurate out of it. My best group of the day was 3 shots under an inch at 200yds. The average was about 2.5" groups at 200yds with the Nosler Trophy grade, and 1.5" groups with the Customs. I definitely think she's ready for my elk tag in a few weeks, then after I get my bowhunting fix, she'll be headed for the plains and a couple of late doe tags.

Nice! I've been shooting nosler trophies (180gr) in my factory barrel 30-06 and getting decent 1" groups at 100yrds. This was the bullet I planned on using for elk this year. I was looking at the nosler customs, wondering if they were the same thing, just older packaging or something. The nosler trophies I'm shooting have their accubond bullet which I was thinking would work well for elk. Which bullet does their customs use?

Chris,
I had heard the Nosler Customs were hand-loaded while the Trophy Grade were machine loaded. They both use the same 140gr. accubond bullet, and both list the same velocities. TBH, I'm not sure what/if the difference really is, but I do know that group for group, I get tighter groups with the stuff in the burgundy box versus the newer Trophy Grade stuff. I hope to get a reload setup going later this year. I've been eyeing the new Accubond LRs from Nosler in 150gr 270. I'd like to work up my own load that's as accurate as the Nosler factory stuff is in this rifle.
