What sticks to a plastic stock ?

i used devcon on mine (model 16)
and it works great.

Any epoxy based bedding compound as long as you prep it properly. Have to rough up the surface with a dremel or something.

Rough up the surface with a dremel real well, and create some negative spots drilled in at various angles to ensure a good mechanical lock. Smear the bedding compound into the voids real well, it'll stick just fine.

If you have a graingers near you they should have devcon in stock. It comes with enough for several rifles though so if you can get one of your buddies interested you can split the cost

I found Devcon 10110 at Graingers, but for 55 dollars I past on it. The factory stocks not worth it to me.

You can get a kit online for $30. that comes with the modeling clay and everything to make the ****s and what not for the job.

Ok I just bedded it with JB weld, now the wait. I have a single shot, so I just bedded the mag well area. If, it turns out, is that enough contact area, or should I still bed the factory contact areas ? I know I should have done it all at the same time, but filling the mag well was a lot of area. I did fill the mag well with a block of wood to fill up some of the space.

So it is actually more expensive. $35.00 worth of 10110 will do two rifles. On a single shot I fill the mag well with less expensive media also.

I have used "Quick Steel" epoxy putty for years and it works really well without the high price of Devcon. You can find it at Wal-Mart or any of the car parts places. Molds like clay and sets up within 5 minutes. After the first few times using it for bedding I couldn't see any reason to use anything else.

I was kind of thinking that putty would be pretty easy to work with. Bedding my Axis is going to be a technical job due to it's design and I really don't want any epoxy material running into the trigger area. I posted pictures of the area that will be bedded if I decide to in the end. Probably won't be attempted until November time frame when i have more time off for the holidays though. We will see!

In the mean time do you think you could post some pictures of your bedding jobs with the "quick steel"?

Right now all my stocks are classic Walnut and are not bedded. Might have a synthetic one in the safe that is bedded. I'll check.
