Hi People, this has probably been asked before....

Please explain what the differences between a small shank and large shank are.. (What does it mean??!!)

I mean, Can you fit a Large shank to a normal model 10 that had a sporter barrel?

Reason I'm asking is that I have seen a large shank barrel and I'm thinking of getting it for my 16 Weather Warrior project....

I found this article in the savage faq's section. Worth a gander I suppose.

Looks like if you have a "large shank",.......then you have a small "nut". Just like in real life!!!! :)

If your 16 is not a wsm you are probably working with a small shank.

Shank size refers to the diameter of the chamber end of the barrel that screws into the action. They are not interchangeable - if you have a small shank action you need a small shank barrel, and if you have a large shank action you need a large shank barrel.
