Browsing Savage website I come across this two riffles, looks like its new models Savage had come up with. 10 FCP-K has 24" barrel, accutrigger, accustock and muzzle breaker, when 12 FCV got 26" barrel, accustock and accutrigger. Is there anyone who actually used any of this models? I would like to hear some feedback on them. I'm looking to get something in .223 and they seemed to be nice rifles for their price, I also like twist rate of 1:9 which will put them in 50 - 74 grain category. By any chance does any one knows what Savage's specs on this rifles? Once I called Savage about my 11 model and I was told 1.75" is within their specs. I just don't need another over MOA rifle, just hope to find something which will keep 1/2 MOA or better.
Thank you for any information.

If it were me I would lean towards the 10FCP-K, although a muzzle brake on a .223 is a little overkill IMO. While Savage does not guarantee sub MOA results from a stock rifle, but I have rarely seen a Savage that was not a shooter straight out of the box. Very rarely in fact.

I had my eye on 10 FCP-K but 12 FCV offers extra 2" which should add "few" fps. As far as quality model 10 and 12 do you think model 10 got an upper hand? Also does Accustock makes any difference? I never owned savage with Accustock, the ones I owned had either regular synthetic or Boyd laminated, which I had to glass bed.

2" barrel length will not be anything to worry about with a .223. I am not a big fan of the AccuStocks, but they are as good or better than most of the factory supplied synthetic stocks that I have handled. I prefer after market stocks, so I rarely even consider what the rifles come with. I really do not feel that their is any difference in quality between the Model 10 or Model 12. Buy what fits your needs, style and budget and shoot the hell out of it :)

Well 2" will make 60 fps difference, not much but still. So you think buying 10 FP then adding say HS Precision stock would make better choice?

I truly think that it will not make any difference between these two rifled actions. The HS stock will allow you to build a more accurate rifle IMO though.

I swear by my .223 FCP-K. I'm sure that there are better ones out there.

get the model 12 stainless is always nice and a muzzle break on a 223 is completly useless all it will do is make the gun unbelivably loud some ranges willnot let u shoot a rifle with a break. imo unless your shooting a heavy magnum they are not needed i have no need or want for one on my 300 wsm

The .223 FCP-K brake is not loud. Don't let that be a stopping point.

Nice groups! That RCBS X die probably something I should try, myself I use regular RCBS for .308 its not bad at all, 2.8" groups at 500 yards, .89" at 300. Another question I have is about Accustock, is it really worth it?

The Accustock is nice and stiff. I don't have my Accuwedge installed and it shoots great.

This is my Savage 110 FCP-K in .300 Win. Mag. It been a good shooter, and the Accutrigger I can't say enough good about. It is one of the best I have ever encountered on a factory rifle. The only changes I've made, is I went to a set of Leupold Mark IV Rings. I really like the Burris Signature Zee Rings, but the 1" models only come with 2 screws per ring. On a braked Magnum it allows the ring cap to gimbal on the radiused insert. I experienced no scope movement, or zero shift, but I felt the Leupolds with 4 screws per ring were a little better suited for this application. I lapped them after installing, and they work beautifully. After lapping I applied rosin to the inside of both the rings and the caps for a little better grip. Bill T.

I don't know how the .223 is but in .308 this rifle is outstanding. For the AccuStock & AccuTrigger, before I shot it I had thoughts of "the usual suspect" stocks and replacement parts but after shooting it I'm not thinking of another stock or anything, it's so accurate the way it sits.
