Well it is getting closer to crunch time. I have 3 months before I am home, and since this ammo craze is going on I figured I had better buy some bullets before it's too late! I picked up some Berger hunting 140 VLD's even though I originally wanted the Hybrids. I just couldn't find any that were in stock or even taking back orders.

I am not in the states yet and have no idea what the situation is like in local stores. If I can't find H4831SC by the time I get back do you guys have any suggestions on powder for a 6.5x284 that works decent and is readily available, or am i asking to much?

I don't think any powder is readily available but magpro will work 4350 works reloader 17 19 and 22 hybrid 100 some may require magnum primer. You can get reloading data off the net for many different powders buy going to hodgdons' web sight

Thank you,
I have the Berger reloading manual at home, just don't have access to it. I figured as much with the powders... i am just going to have to have my brother keep an eye out till he can get his hands on some before I get back.

Retumbo is quickly becoming my go to powder for the 6.5-284. 53-56 grains seems to be the sweet spot for most folks.

I've tried 4831 and ramshot hunter with 130 gr sst and accubonds but so far a good load remains elusive for me out of my 111 6.5 284. No factory load works well for me either so far. What bullet are you driving stomp?

Well I got lucky! I found some H4381SC. The website I purchased it from had large rifle primers as well... however, they were just Winchesters. I still gotta keep my eye out for some CCI's, but at least I have a backup plan.
