What sort of loads/groups in 308 with the 168 gr amax ??

Looking for a good cheap hunting/target bullet in the 165 gr range
and am thinking the 168 amax would be a good one.

What are your good loads and groups.

I have a sporter stevens 308

44.4gr varget, cci br-2,2.80 oal,168gr amax 2690fps shoots 1/4" in my remmy
43.5gr varget ,cci br-2,2.80 oal,168gr amax 2700fps shoots 3/8" in a savage
just get them to 2680-2700 fps and you will be good to go

44.5g of Varget, 168g SMK*, Fed. GM-210 primers in neck sized Lapua brass, at 2710fps, from an H-S Precision HTR, with 24" 1 in 12' heavy fluted barrel for .2 to .3" for 5 @ 100.

* not quite the same bullet, so your mileage may differ.
