I have a 250 AI barrel coming any day (thanks Ed) and I am looking to see what powder you 250 AI guys have had the best luck with.

I will start loading 80gr. TTSX's and 100 gr. NBT's.

Has anyone played with RL17 in this round?

Thanks
Brent

I shoot the 22-250 AI with heavy bullets, not positive the same powders work for .25 cal bullets but I think they would. I prefer the IMR 4350 and RL22 route. Do you have access to the large binder manual from sierra. I see they list the most accurate loads tested for each bullet weight and the 250 AI is in the manual I am almost certain.

Bret, most loads I see are listed w/ RL15. I use H4895 very successfully in my straight 250 Sav w/ 100gr. tips. I would imagine that would work good. I did try RL17 w/ the 250 Sav. More muzzle flash and recoil, same accuracy, same velocity, so I stayed w/ the H4895.
PS Good snag on the stuff from Ed. I was trying to work out a trade but actually I am glad you got it. I didn't need another project now!

Reloaded a few rounds tonight so I checked the manual for you. RL15 is the powder for accuracy and hunting loads for the 75gr through 100gr bullets. Every accuracy load listed is also the maximum charge which is unusual but should make for a good round.

Your welcome Brent! I was playing with IMR 4350 the little bit that I shot it.

I'll bet RL-17 is gonna work well in it.....let us know how it does when you try it.

Oh OK, I guess I owe you for the 80gr 25-06AI load. ;)
