Good or bad for a 260 Rem donner

I am going to be building a 260 Rem for my first savage rifle. The only decently priced doner rifles I am seeing are in 270 win. Would this be a good choice? I know a few people like to build off of the 110 or 111 actions. Opinions please.

That will work great. Shouldn't have any problems just slap the barrel on and go. Mine is currently built on a older 110 270 and it has given me zero issues.

Fine choice. And if you decide later that you would like to have a long action caliber also then you can just get another barrel and have a new gun in 10 minutes.

When I was looking for a donor I saw a few 270's and a ton of 30-06's. I ended up getting a deal on a 7mm mag so I went with that. I'm glad I went with a long action because next time around I may go with a 6.5-06.

+ 1 on a long action you can do about anything with it

I have been doing all of my recent builds on long actions. With the proper parts you can turn them into anything from 221FB on up. Also since the most common calibers I see on the shelves are the 270 and 30-06 those seem to be the easiest and cheapest to find.

My current 260 started life as 300win.

Thanks for the info. The findings aroud this area are the same tons of .270's and 30-06's and the SA in 308, 223 and 243 are all going for a premium.
