Hi folks,

What size Bolt Face would I need to convert a 22-250 to 300 WSM?

Google is query sensitive but wikipedia aswers many of your dimensional questions on cartridges.

Actually my brown and sharp dial calipers across a control round feed head told me that number. I checked again and it is really .553.

good catch though. Google search found Wikipedia. Wiki says it is .535, Close enough.

WSM's are rebated cases....555" at the case head., .532" on the rim. Those numbers are nominal measurements, actual measurements of cases will no doubt be smaller and the measurement of the bolt head diameter will be larger.

Sooo.... the 550 or the 338 lapua bolt face as its called on the PT&G site?

That would be for a long action Bolt assembly. The 550 is the length of the lug from front to back not the bolt face size. I am not seeing a ptg BH for a WSM

Newer WSM bolt heads have 9/16 lugs, and .532 bolt faces. You will need the baffle which is thinner and the longer firing pin if going with newer style bolt head. Have done 3 for 7mm saum changes using LRP actions, very easy.

One could get an OEM. One could open a bolt face up. One could get the long action and shorten the backside to fit a short action firing pin.The latter 2 options do not require a baffle or firing pin change.

I got all 3 pieces from Savage it was like 70.00 for everything if I remember right.
