Model 111 30-06

Hi, I just picked up a new-to-me Savage 111 30-06. I got a fair deal on it at a gun show and it looks to be in very nice condition.

Is there a way to tell from the serial number the specifics of the rifle such as year of manufacture, whether it's an Accu-trigger, etc?

Any recommendations on a decent starter scope for target shooting? Thanks in advance.

Look at the sticky above your post "Savage Date of Manufacture" and PM the moderator. If it is an accutrigger it has a safety feature that is visable in the center of the trigger that moves back though the trigger when applying finger pressure. What distance target shooting and what price range on the scope?

The S/N is G79XXXX so maybe it's new new to research? Does Savage respond to such inquiries?
I don't see any kind of trigger adjustment so it must be pre-Accutrigger?
I'm probably looking for a scope in the $75 or less range, for shooting mostly under 100 yards.
