I can't see building a dream rifle off a savage platform period. there are so many actions that are where you need them to be....without all ofthe work. Now a workhorse get dirty and beat up rifle. Savage all the way.

"15-55X52 night force "

if you building a long range rig, this is a crap scope....

the adjustment sucks, and anything over 25x is going to have such a bad heat merage, you wont be able to see anything...

i shoot to a mile with a 260 with a 20x no problem...

Just curious why the switch?

I have built 6 coustom savages now, for me and friends..
This one was top notch...

shillen match barrel
all nitrided
SAV1 trigger
PTG fluted bolt
TacOps bolt handel
Mcrees DBM stock /10rd mags
ERGO grip
accushot mono pod
Weaver TAC 20 moa base
American Defense 20 MOA QD mount "40moa total"
Vortex Razor 6.5x20 ebr3
YHM QD Brake
YHM Ti-Phantom QD suppressor
38spl bolt lift mod
Action Job By Sharp Shooters Supply

The savage was just as good as a shooter as my 700 I built, so I didn't need 2 I identical guns..

That said, the rem action was more reliable .. Ejection has always been hit or miss on all the savages I've owned...
That and if the trigger isn't set Just right you can get slam fires...

One less thing I need to worry about on the 700..

I got the 700 action for 150$... So I was a no brainer to build.

When savage actions were 250 to 225 build it made sense to build one to save $$$$ but with the 200 actions drying up its making less sense.. U can get a Walmart 700 for 400 and do the Remage barrel to save on gunsmithing like the savage and be in the same price ballpark

Or you can just buy your dream rifle from the factory and adjust the trigger. When I bought it new I was into this one if memory serves correctly for around $450 I had to order it through a dealer.
This one had all the bells and whistles when I bought it new. It's a 116FLCSAK in 30-06 left handed, stainless and synthetic with a fluted barrel, adjustable brake, detachable box mag, 3 screw trigger. Top it off with a Leupold scope rings and bases and except for load development you're done. I load neck sized Winchester brass with 57gr of IMR 4350, a CCI BR2 primer and a 165gr Sierra Game King hollow point boat tail touching the lands. This has given me a 10 shot group of .446 pretty much if I can see it I can hit it with this rig.
