Hi all. I have a Hog Hunter .308 which is my first bolt-action. I LOVE this gun. Having said that I want to add a few things (because we like to tinker) and make it exactly how I want it. However, my question right now is about mounting optics.

I want a two piece base system. The HH is a top loading rifle so keeping things wide open at the port is nice. Would I go wrong with Warne two piece bases and their QD rings? Also, what height is best? (low, mid, high?)

Bases:

Rings:

I would like to keep the QD option. I think the HH is so versatile that having a two scope setup would be nice, like a 1-4x and 3-9x setup.

Thanks for any advice!

Warne's stuff is pretty good.

Height will be determined by your scope objective diameter and if you want to keep the rear sight.

Got the Warne low rings. Took measurement as best as I could and these should clear the center of crosshairs above the iron sights. We'll see.

I prefer Burris XTB bases. Steel, torx screws, and multi-slot. Topped with Burris Signature Zee's.

This setup holds my big heavy Nightforce on top of my sporter 338RUM without slipping. Can't beat it for the $$.
