That will work if you have a baffle like Bill has in the picture. That baffle is one of the later ones that are investment cast. The earlier baffles were sintered and are harder than Kelsey's nuts.
I would suggest to weld up your spare "outa spec" bolt handle....it doesn't work now, so you have nothing to lose.

Turns out I have the harder kind-- dulled two drill bits trying to drill holes.

I'm off to find some kind of washer...

If you saw the picture if mine, i got it at ace hardware. Its a 1/2" id fiber washer. Sands easily but is plenty firm. Once i got the thickness i needed i coated it with thin super glue to "harden it".

I am having a similar issue with my Model 16 FCSS. It is plenty accurate, but the bolt operation on extraction takes quite a bit of effort. Kuduman, please let me know if checking and adjusting headspace did the trick for you.

So I did the fiber washer fix. And it fixed my problem-- quickly and easily. My action is not as smooth as others have described, but it does work. I think something must still be off in the timing.

For the record, you need a 3/4" or larger inside diameter washer. The ones I found at a local True Value were 1/16" or 1/32" thick. I still have no idea what these washers are supposed to be used for, but they weren't hard to find at a real HW store. Lowes and Home Depot do NOT have them, incidentally.

I hand-sanded down the 1/16" thick one until it worked.

There's usually a little play in the bolt handle-to-body fitment. You could probably fiddle with that to retard the timing of the handle a bit to smooth it out.
