Working on the old Stevens 365 gave me the fever to own a shooter. The 365 may someday be that gun, but it looks like I'll have to find another set of barrels for that to happen.

In the meantime, I found a Fox-B to have some fun with. It's stamped "24R" in the oval, so if my math's right that makes it a '63. Overall in really good shape, with some loss of gloss on the stocks. 12 ga & 28" barrels. Here's a few pics.....

Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet...next weekend I'll try it on some clay birds.

I'm fairly new here, just getting into this site, long time Savage shotgun shooter, since the 1960's. Just added a NIB Savage Stevens 311 to the Savage shotgun collection.

Nice! Hard to find them N.I.B., what year was it made?

I'd love to find me an older Savage-Fox BSE in 16 or 20-gauge in minty condition. The later ones (70's and 80's) had that horrid backed on black finish - a Fox isn't a Fox without a case-hardened finish IMO.

Being a senior my modern tech ability is lacking, I'll try and post pics when the kids come home for the New Year. Some folks say the 311H series from the late 70's are supposed to be of very poor quality, any info on this is appreciated, my first purchased new in '73 never had any issues.

I have one that i might be persuaded to part with. It's a 16ga BSE in an employee model(for what that's worth) I have the original stock and one I bought for it. That is inletted and on the gun but not checkered or finished.
Send me a personal message if this interests you. It is case colored

Just following up on my last post(8 mos. ago :-/)....I picked up a "one-step" clay bird thrower back in the fall & have had a blast shooting the Fox-B. I usually carry it, a Remington model 31, & a winchester SXP out to the farm & have a great time. The unfortunate side effect of all this shooting is a need for shoulder recuperation & a pain in the wallet(for ammo). I never realized how much harder it is to hit the target with a double until I started shooting the pumps along with it. Still haven't mastered it. I've tried remington, winchester, federal, & rio ammo in it & had no problems.

Jeff funny you should bring up the Model B again. I decided about 2 weeks ago to go ahead and finish the new wood I bought for mine. I am 15 coats into it and the wood is gorgeous. Normally I wouldn't have it checkered but this wood is amazing and it deserves the full treatment. I willpost pictures when it is done.

Sorry, I lost track of this thread. Here's the wood, I don't think I took a picture of the gun but I will look later.
