I picked up a Savage Model 110 in a trade recently. It appears very lightly used from what I can tell. This model is chambered in .308 Win., has a fluted 20" barrel, and the standard factory synthetic stock. The bolt is also blackened. This particular gun is a non Accu-Trigger model, but the trigger pull is outstanding.

Anyone have any idea why Savage put a .308 in a long action? Do I have a gem on my hands (i.e. rare bird)?

Any input is appreciated,

Not sure about Savage, but some short action magazines will not work with heavy bullets seated out where they need to be for ultimate accuracy. So some people/manufacturers build .308/.260/.338 with long actions so they dont have to load one at a time.

What is the measurement between the action screws.

Is it a long or short magazine box?

I have one, I think. I didn't know there was a differance when I got it, years ago.

the .308 was done on 3 different action length over the years. Fluted barrels are newer the the .308 110 would be. the rifle was rebarreled at some point.
