I have scoured the interweb looking for bullets and powder with no luck. So yesterday, I went to my lgs. Mr. Raymond is a long time long distance shooter and bench rest guy and has more reloading components than any store I have been in. However, this does not mean that he has everything. What we settled on that he had on hand were a box of 150gr. Sierra Game Kings, Accurate 5744, and CCI small rifle primers.

Looking at the loading data with him while there and doing some more research on my own, it looks like I should be able to push the GKs to around 2000 fps with no problems, maybe even a little faster. My questions are:

1) Will the GK expand at these velocities at distances under 150 yards?

2)Does anyone have any experience with 5744? Most everything is Lil' Gun or 110. It seems that 5744 is very similar.

3)Understanding my intentions and given the availability of components, do you thing this will be an effective round? He also had 150gr Sierra BTs

I have a 30 Bellm, a 7mm bench rest necked up and trimmed to 1.4" to be illinois legal. It is a little more than a 300blk, but I do use 150 game kings in it. I get right at 2450 fps out of a 17" barrel in my striker for a deer round. Since switching last year to the 150 I have shot 3 deer with it. Deer were shot between 60-200 yards and all expanded well leaving large exit holes. I would think a Sierra 125gr or nosler 125 bt would be good at the lower velocity. But, I stopped using the 125 bt because it was very explosive on deer I shot at a muzzle velocity of 2650 fps. The 150 may give you more energy though. Might be worth running the numbers on ballistics. Hope this helps. I also found h4198 gave the best velocity and accuracy in my 30 Bellm.
