Mine likes SMK 168 and SGK 165 @0.030 jump with 42.5 grains of Varget or 41.6 with the SMK 175.

I think the most widely accepted starting point for factory .308 ammo is Federal Gold Medal Match.
As far as hand loading goes, Both the Nosler guide and the Sierra reloading manual have accuracy loads listed, I have found their data to be an excellent starting point. Both companies do extensive ballistics testing and have toll free numbers you can call to speak to someone about load questions. They have been very helpful to me in the past on several occasions

There IS no standard that fits all. WHAT is your goal, hunting, LR competitions? This is one of those, "Gotta do your own homework" deals.

I think maybe my lack of sleep contributed to a poorly worded question.

I was looking for a consensus on what the favorite commercial load was so I can can at least get it to the range, and discover any major wrinkles in the setup. Naturally, this isn't the stopping point, but it 'gets me on paper'.

Afterwards, after ironing out any kinks in the platform, start tweaking reloads to eek out the last bit of performance.

The eventual goal is to have a Long Range Precision rifle.

Try Winchester 150 grain power points, or better yet 168 gr Federal Gold Medal Match.

Some people have had luck with the Atomic Match 168gr Nosler Custom HPBT as well.

I ordered 4 boxes of 168 Grain GMM today.

Hartech--I have had really good luck with the Federal 168 GMM. Also Remington Premier Match 168. Also good luck with the Southwest Ammunition 168 reloads. All three 168s are excellent in our FCP rifles but they all shoot to a slightly different zero. I have some 175 gr SWA new match loads coming just to try this coming weekend.

If you ever take the muzzle brake off, you will be surprised at how much the zero changes at 100 yards.

You are going to love shooting that heavy fluted barrel, if you don't mind the weight. I really like mine.
