Extractor on Flat Top Receivers

Crazy Chris recently posted pics of a flat top Savage with a shot of the bolt head. His Savage has a brass colored extractor.

Did the old flat tops use brass or gold anodized extractors?

All the extractors were beryllium copper in the past. I forget exactly when the change was to steel, around 2000 maybe?
