What type of rest do most guys use to get such tight ,constant groups ? I have a Trophy Hunter 243 which is accurate for me , I can surround the 10 ring but can't put them on top of each other . I use a V shaped bag on the rear and a square bag under the for stock .I know I wiggle a small amount but do the best I can .Lead sled or a good adjustable front rest or some thing else .

Harris Bipod is pretty much all I ever shoot off of.

I use a custom from DR Greenlaw, some use a Sinclair some a caldwell,or a SEB($$$$$) some a Hart, it all depends on what you want to do and how much you are willing to spend. A rolled up jacket or a cut off pant leg full of sand and tied off may be all you need.

I have shot off of many different types of rest, (Caldwell, Sinclair, Hart, Farley,) and all I can say is you get what you pay for, so buy once cry once. My groups greatly improved when I sold my Caldwell rock BR, and got a Hart. I found that I shot a bit better when I bought a Sinclair competition.

Personally I prefer a good set of bags over a rest. I pull the rifle down snug in the bags and let the rifle do the rest.

Yup...agree 100%. Harris on the front and a sandbag on the back = teeny tiny groups on paper or a dead groundhog at 400 yards.

i think youd find virtualy all serious competetors use a serious rest. no doubt most of them
also know about bipods and sandbags and probably use them when their not quite as serious.

You will change your mind after you shoot off of one. The best way I can describe it is it acts like a shopping cart with a wheel missing. It works good until it tips.

NRA doesn't allow monopods in sanctioned matches, not sure about the BR disciplines.

I will have to keep that all in mind and just grab the sand bags! I would like to shoot a match one day, but too many irons in the fire for a while.
