Hello y'all . I've been reading the forum for months and working on my model 11 in 308 but I unfortunately live in a slug only state so I've been kicking around the idea of taking a savage long action rifle and rebarreling it to 410 with a rifled bore and custom chambered for the hoening 410 slug load but I'm at a loss as to what bolt face it would require to hold a .410 case . I know the magazine is gonna be a pain to rework but I'll take the time to work out feed issues by trial and error. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also the case is 2.5 inches and loaded slug is 2.96 inches overall . Thank you in advance.

I don't mean to kick the props out from under you, but the model 11/111 was never designed for shotgun shells, or even rimmed cases for that matter. If you can only hunt with a slug gun, get a Savage model 220.

Wow that 220 is impressive! That's like cheating! I just did some looking around the internet and saw someone claiming to have shot a 3/4" group at 100yrds with pics. First time I've ever seen a Leupold rifle scope on a shotgun. Pretty cool stuff

Edit: According to the Savage website, the MSRP is $565. This is probably much cheaper than what you would spend on parts and everything to try and put one together on your own.

Or just buy the H&R ultra slug 20 gauge. Or the H&R light 20 rifled. They are great shooters and the standard barrel model sells for under $200.
