I was at the gun shop yesterday and found a 116 in 30-06 for $289! Great shape with scope, old 3 screw trigger (nice!) so there was no way I was coming home without it. But it has the flat-back receiver. I am not particularly fond of two piece scope mounts as they limit the fore and aft adjustment of the scope. My preference is a multi-slot type rail and was wondering if anyone knows of anyone who makes a rail mount like this that will fit a flat back.

This might be a flat back, no description. call Midway or Weaver.

According to Weaver site, this part# 413 is for "pre 2003 long action Savage"

Thanks Tex. I have looked at a few reviews and they all say that it fits the flat back. I did find an EGW for the flat back but it cost a lot more than the weaver.

I have both the warne 20 moa and the weaver. I have them in different rifles and both are under .5 inch shooters at 100 yds, I have the warne in the 7mm rm and the weaver in the 30-06. I have better faith on the warne because it is steel and I use detachable rings.

I think DNZ makes one for the flat back also.
I have the EGW and the Weaver 20moa ones on my flat backs, BOTH are tops.

Last one I bought for as flatback was from Evolution Gun Works. Very good stuff. The two piece may limit the fore and aft of your scope but the two piece provide way better access to the loading/ ejection port. I have no idea where to get them now but IMO the old dual dovetails were the cats pajamas.

I have a couple of the Ken Farrell bases for the flat backs.

If you want steel, Ken Farrell and Warne are both top notch bases as has been stated already.

The farrell bases are tall. I have a 20 moa on a flat back 110, and while it is a quality heavy duty piece, it is thick. Just fyi.
