I recently bought a Savage 10 FP-SR in .308. I ordered Seekins 30 mm rings and a Seekins 20 moa base. When I tried to mount the base to the receiver I found that the recoil lug was causing the holes in the base to not line up with the holes in the receiver. Has anyone else ever had this problem? I called seekins and they told me that because savage was constantly changing the specs on their receivers they were probably not going to continue making bases for savage rifles. They told me that I could grind the recoil lug down to get it to line up properly, but I don't feel comfortable doing that, plus when you spend $120 you expect things to line up correctly.

So now I am in the market for another base and rings. What base and rings would you recommend? I would like to use the same brand for both the base and the rings.

Thank you for your help.

I know you want the same brand, but I have had no problems with EGW or Weaver rails and Burris Signature Zee rings.

What do you guys think about a Nightforce 20 moa base, nightforce 30 mm rings, with a Vortex 6-24X50.

What ring height should I go with? I think the low rings would work fine, but I was hoping someone may have a similar setup that can confirm that they will for sure work.

I have the EGW 20 MOA base, Burris XTR 30 mm rings ( med ) and the same scope on my 112 BVSS 30/06. Over 400 rounds thru it with no issues. Just make sure you torque the cross bolts on those rings to 60 in/lbs.
