Did savage change the firing pin on the 111

I have my bolt apart, the schematic shows a spring running along the center of the whole firing pin, as they do on my 10 FP's, this one has no such spring just a short one that sits on a flange on the front of the pin shaft and another that is hooked on the rear of the shaft. I need a picture to put it back together properly.

I guess they have changed them up. There was a post earlier this week of a non-adjustable one.
I don't think I like the idea.

Yes, some of the newer Savage actions have a non-adjustable firing pin with the rear of the firing pin showing through the Bolt assembly screw (BAS- 12s). But just because the firing pin is showing through the BAS as a cocking indicator does not mean the bolt has a non-adjustable firing pin. So how do you tell? If you have the non-adjustable FP, then the firing pin springs are now located behind the Cocking Piece Pin (12A) and the Cocking Piece Sleeve (12D) is gone.

So how do you tell without disassembling the bolt? Look for spring coils behind the cocking piece pin. Below is a picture showing you what to look for.

This is the old schematic,keep it there until we find the new one. The new firing pin does not have the spring #110 and the pin is a different shape.

That is the wrong schematic. Parts 11B, 11C, 11E, 11F are gone. The firing pin and firing pin stop are now one piece.

The spring that holds the cocking pin in goes on first, followed by the steel o-ring and then the firing pin spring.

I just sent pics to savage with the link to this thread, they are unaware of any changes, lets see what they come back with.

Loop against flange in the front then the spring in front of the loop, the rear is the cocking spring with tail looped into slot?

Okay I just got off the phone with Savage, , all the springs go on the rear, the spring with the leg go's into the notch on the firing pin extending into the retaining pin hole a bit, the single loop washer go's on next then the last spring with against the single loop washer. I have pics I can email for someone to post, just PM me an email and I will send them.

Short and sweet answer is that this new design is cheaper to manufacture. It first appeared in the Model 220 slug gun in 2010, then was designed into the Axis with it's mid-year launch later the same year, and for the last year or so they've slowly started phasing them into the 110 series guns. Kinda sucks because there's no way to adjust them like you can the old design.

So is it the same bolt body? Can the regular style(adjustable one)firing pin be swapped into it?
If so then it might be a good idea to get a couple of spares if they're going to fade them out.
