I just got a call from SSS today. They just finished my LVT stock and are shipping it out, it's only been about 9 weeks. should have it by the end of the week. I am also sending my action in this week for a T&T, Comp recoil lug, new barrel, and bolt fluting. I'm going to be ancy for the next couple weeks. I know how you feel!

I'm alway's second guessing myself. Wondering if I made the right choice, guess I'll know when it get's here. 44mag, how does your's compare to the VLP stock ? Or do you have a factory VLP ?

It's a SSS Classic Varminter stock. It has a 2 1/2 wide forearm compared to 2 1/4 on VLP. Its pistol grip is longer and more vertical. And the cheek is slightly higher.

That's one thing I was wondering, I need a high cheek, didn't want to go with the adjustable option.

Well here is the only pic I have of my gun. I did cut in my own adjustable cheek in the stock. I made a push button lock
with the cheek being spring loaded. It works like a half-nut to lock it in place. So I would say the butt stock would be
about 3/32 taller if it wasn't cut. I also cut down the pistol grip area to give my meaty thumb muscle a better fit.

This was taken in August on a PD hunt in SD. I will have to find some time to take some more pics of it.

It's a VRS (Versatile Rest System) by Lone Star Field Products.

We used one mounted on a tripod. And this one was mounted on a 4wheeler.

How and what did you use to "finish" the stock once you got it to your door ??

Once it was filled I used Chem-pak aerosol Gun Sav'R Custom Oil Gunstock Finish from Brownells.
Item number 209-101-014. Very easy to put on.

This was recommended to me by one of my customers that makes and refinishes shotgun stocks. He is using this now over Truoil.
This product has no yellow cast to its color.
