So, the trigger is pretty gritty and there will more than likely be a trigger job in its future. The other thing that has happened pretty often is light fire strikes. 1 every 10 bullets. The bolt face is clean, I just cleaned the rifle last night.

Any ideas how to fix the light strikes?

The F pin needs to move freely and be a certain length and protrude through the bolt face a certain amount.. A little polishing and cleaning around the F pin helps. Something is causing the F pin to drag or it's worn or a spring is weak.
You can always replace the F pin if you are satisfied it moves freely yet weak primer strikes occur but if the F pin protrudes to shallow the problem remains..

Little did your friend know, he could have swapped the '06 barrel for a 280, for a couple hundred bucks. Probably been a better rifle than the Remy anyway. I think he just wanted a new gun.

nice buy. That's about what I paid for mine over the net.
