2 piece base work with short action and nikon scope??

so i have my savage hog hunter and i have a nikon 4x12x40 scope to mount on it. i had it on my old savage axis which was a 30-06 long action i couldn't get he right eye relief with a two piece base and my nikon scope. so i had to buy a one piece base to make it work. now my question is... will a 2 piece base work on a 308 short action and my nikon scope and get the right eye relief? ive read that this is a common problem with nikon scopes.. and that savages actions are longer than some. i really want a 2 piece base set and was wandering if this would mount correctly so i can get a good eye relief with out having to push my head uncomfortably up the stock to get a good sight picture i like the look of a two piece better than a one piece rail. looks less tactical. as my new hog hunter is gonna be my new all around hunting gun. got my hogue stock on the way and a muzzle brake from ross cant wait to put it all together. thanks for any help!!
