I have 100 primed case's from a 223 rifle I no longer have. Would it be worth the chance of depriming these to save the case's ? I would fire them but they will not fit in my Stevens 200. What are my option's if any ?

I have deprimed a lot of primed cses and haven't had a detonation yet but I guess that does't say I won't have one with the next time I try it You Aren't looking at a huge financial loss if you are using military case a bit more if they are new commercial uou just have to decide

??????? Why don't they fit in the Stevens?

You could always soak them in some hot soapy water and then deprime them.

I guess I set my chamber too tight. Can't get the bolt to close on them.

Why not take the decaping pin out of your die, and size them to fit?

Notice what 82boy said - remove the decapping pin, not the whole stem. If you take the whole guts out of the die, you may have neck ID's too tight for your application, depending on your brass and how "tight" the neck of your sizing die is.......

But I've done what he suggested before and it worked fine.

I third 82Boy's recommendation, and have done it many time, with no problems. Use a FL sizing die this time, as you may need to bump the shoulder back. I think this is safer than depriming unfired primers, but have not heard of them ever going off, but I guess its possible.

Tried a spent case and worked fine, I'll start on the "live" ones when I get the time.

had to do that a few time with tight chambers and rounds set up for barrels not so tight. disadvantage to neck sizing brass.
