Anybody own a Savage mdl.12 "Ultimate Truck Gun".223?

These come in a 20 in. heavy barrel,and have Savage 4x4 on the bolt.Thinking about ordering one of these.Just checking on how they group.

They were a special run for one of the big retailers a few years ago. You can find one every now and then. Its easier just to get a 12 FV and have the barrel cut and recrowned. It will only run you $40-$50.

I have one in a .204. It shoots good, an honest .75 moa with the 39gr and usually better than that. It is noticably louder than anything with a 24 or 26 in barrel though. Not sure if the shorter barrel hurts velocity or not as we have not chronoed it. If you can find one cheap, I wouldn't be scared of it as you plan to use it as a 'truck gun' anyway.

Look at the Stevens .223 truck gun at Academy for $229. Same gun, less accutrigger.

The Stevens isn't a 20 in. heavy barrel is it?I've had a Stevens .223 with a regular barrel it shot ok,the barrel heated up fast.

I was going to order the rifle today,and they were out of the .223 >:(.Just had it in a .204.My luck. :'(

I made one patterned like your talking about. Love it! Single shot action, .223 varmint contour 22". Shoots the Berger 70g bullets with H4895 into sub .50 groups with regularity.
