I'm loading the Sierra 142, and the Berger 140 VLD bullets.
At .020 off the lands, my COAL is 2.25 using the comparator tool measuring from the ogive.
What are some loads you guys recommend?
I've got H4350, H4831, Varget, H380, H414, H335, H322, H4198, RL19, RL10X, Ramshot Xterm and TAC.
I listed all of my available powders because I honestly don't know where to start. I've never loaded a VLD profile bullet before.
Thanks!

PaHog should chime in in the morning I'm sure. He is shooting 140 A-max out of his with great results. Think he's using RL19, but not sure.

I am using 46.3g RL19 out of mine with 120's, but that wont help you much.

;D I'm shooting 45.0grs of RL-19 with 140gr A-maxs at 2.259" on my comparator at .010" off lands. or 2.880"+/-overall
Barrel is 28" L.W. velocity is 2915avg. Prepped R-P brass and CCI BR-2's. Mine shoots this load fantastic, But some VLD's won't stabilize at 100yds and can make groups look worse than they will be out further. RL-19 or H4831SC are my go to powders with 140's and H4350 with the 120's.

RL-19 40-45.1gr with 140's
H4831SC 40.0-46.0 with 140's Work up to your guns max, But you know that.

Good read for VLD shooters scroll to bottom of page (VLD Bullet Design)

Thanks for the help.
I've also got some 142 Sierras I'd like to try.
Anybody have the data from the Sierra book?

So far in my 260 I've had my best results with heavy bullets using H4350, Re19, and N160. For some reason H4831SC just doesn't shoot well in my rifle.

The VLD that's shooting best in my LW barrel is the 130 gr Berger VLD.

I just tuned my load again after switching to Nosler brass, and the load settled out at 47.2 gr H4831sc, Fed 210M primers. This is on once fired F/L sized brass. I could probably get a little more powder in the case, but not much

This load is consistently shooting in the .2's and low .3's - and it was hot as blue blazes yesterday afternoon at the range......

Lands length in my set-up is 2.918 and I load them to 2.93".

I have been shooting Lapua 139gr w/ H4350 with great results. My load for a 26" Shilen 1:8 is 43gr .15 off the lands and shoots in the .2's or consistently. I tried rl19 and was O.K. but in my rifle the 4350 just worked better. I shoot out to 500 yds with 1.25"-1.5" groups at that range. Vel. is 2800 fps.

Okay, I have some with H4350 loaded up.
Sierra also recommends H414 and H380.
Anybody try these?

November 2009 Update!
Alliant's new Reloader 17 powder is a perfect match to the .260 Remington. Testing over the last 9 months indicates that most shooters can get an additional 125-175 fps with the 139-142's using RL17!

Going to test out some loads this week, hoping the weather will work with the chrono. Hoping to get some 130 bergers around 3k with low sd and es. Started at 41.7gr rl17 w/ 215m primers and averaged 2786 fps with higher then desirable sd and es. Anybody else taking advantage of the beautiful weather in the northeast and playing at the range?

Actually yes, me. Ended up just wasting ammo, would start getting real nice groups holes touching then I would hiccup and send the shot 2 inches away. Then start again and do the same thing.
Had a spinal shot Thursday and started with the hiccups 4:00AM Fri. on and off since, it is a reaction to something in the shot so I have to let run its course.
If I still have them tomorrow I will be shooting the 22lr a lot cheaper than match grade reloads.
