I need to know the rate twist for a savage model 16 in 308 win. Also what grain bullet would give me the best accuracy. Thanks. :)

My guess is that it would be a 1:10 twist. Bullets-- well every gun is a little different, but you should be able to shoot anything up to about 200 grains. I have had good luck with 165g nosler ballistic tips and 168 hornady hpbt over top of varget. My brother's 10fp prefers the 155 a-max. I'm sure someone else who knows more than I will chime in and have some more ideas for you. There are lots of good bullet choices out there!

The Savage website tells the rate of twist on individual rifles.

With a 308 Win I have always had my best accuracy with 168grn and 180grn match bullets out to 600yrds. I seldom shoot at longer distances, but when I do I like the 190grn SMKs as they buck the wind a bit better.
