bolt handle?

Can an oversized bolt handle be put on a 93fv? Does the factory knob come off or do you change the entire handle? Same question for a 12fv.

The way I understand it, there are people who will put an oversize knob on by machining the existing knob off and threading a new one on. Here's an example:

The only way to do it is have the old knob turned down and threaded, and a new knob screwed on.
