Model 111 questions

Hey guys,
I'm new to the forum and looking forward to becoming a productive participant here.

My question is this. Can a model 111 with a side release magazine be stripped down to a donor barreled action or even a donor action and built back up to a long range shooter with a DBM (CDI most likely). I found the gun at a LGS for $300 and think I can walk out the door with it for less than that. Thoughts?

Great question. Someone with real answers will chime in soon but I think you may need to change boltheads to a modern one with the ejector in the head itself. There may be some Machine/Dremel/Grinder work on the bottom of the action to get the mag to locate correctly.

I have seen newer actons recently in that price range that ultimately would be easier and possibly cheaper to modify. Good luck.
