Where does this part go ???

I removed the trigger group from a 1979 "J" series action, and set it on my bench. As I picked up the receiver this little part fell on the floor. It is very small, measures .250x.315. Trigger functions fine after re-install but I want to know where this part is missing from.

It goes under the safety . If you look at the hole/slit where the knurled safety slide goes, it just slides right over the front part of that slit in the action(pretty sure the tab on it faces down but not 100% sure).

Sorry for the poor explanation, but I couldnt think of how else to explain it. ::)

Where does it go? In the trash. They were a dust cover of sort used on older actions.

I never really knew the exact function of that piece, just knew where it went on the action. Dust cover, huh...

I did as stated above, re-installed and left it off.
