Savage 220 staggered fed or center fed?

Pretty new to the gun thing as ive been a bow user. Is the 220 stagger fed or center fed?

The 220 is a slug gun right? Is there room for more than one kind of feed. I guess I am not helping but generally the SF and the CF are references to the model 110/10 series of center fire rifles. Does that help with your question?

well im looking to put a boyds featherweight thumbole stock on it. They said I needed to find out whether or not my 220 was staggered feed or center. yes the 220 is a slug gun but uses the 2 round clip

The 220 is a slug gun and as such it is a bit more than just SF or CF. IIRC the action uses bottom metal very similar to the centerfire CF bottom metal, so I would bet you will be more close to theCF style stocks. Also measure your action screws (the 2 screws that hold the action to the stock), I am not sure of what spacing the 220 uses. It may be the same as the centerfire rifles, it may not. The screw spacings (from center of 1 screw to the center of the other) are 5.062" for SF or CF Long action rifle, 4.40" for Centerfeed Short Action Rifle, and 4.27" for Staggerfeed Short Action Rifle. Hopefully the 220 has the same or close enough spacing you can get something to work for it. I don't currently have a 220 or I'd measure it (or already know), but post back your findings as I am going to try and pick one up in the next year or so.

PS- for some reason I am thinking the 220 action has a bigger diameter than the standard rifle actions. Can't remember for sure.

Yeah the 220 guard screw spacing is 5.062 which is the same as the 110. Just ordered the boyds featherweight long action with centerfeed. Hopefully its the right one or I might SOL. Could always sell it on ebay I guess. Ill definitely let you know how it ends up. It should be here in the next few days

If you do have to sell it, become a paid member here and sell it here in the classifieds. Its the best $15/year I spend. Tons of info and lots of deals to be had in the classifieds. Just a thought.

The 220 Slug gun will not fit in a rifle stock, the magazine frame is totally different.

Nothing that a milling machine cannot remove from the stock he bought. Given it is a long action with the same screw spacing, I think the poster knows he will have some inletting to do.

You must have one of those "special" milling machines that puts wood back instead of removing it.:p
