(I tried to post this yesterday, so maybe it's on here somewhere. I can't find it.)

I've got a couple boxes of 60 gr Sierra varminter (hp) bullets that I'd to like to load up. I'm thinking of using varget (39.0 up to 43.5). Any suggestions?

I'm shooting a savage model 114 (American classic). I've worked up loads for 87 gr, still this gun is like new. Considering the ammo and reloading situation, I may as well use up some of the stuff on hand. I've got several other powders on hand, too.

Hi 43.5 will be a good load, and I like those Sierra's 60gr HPs it's 50 thou off the lands for me, I know all chambers are different I highly doubt you will see any pressure signs, I load 47gr in my loads.

My sierra manual shows 43.0grs of varget as max.

My sierra manual shows 43.0grs of varget as max.

I am sure it does, that is there max for liability, not necessarily your chamber max.

I've always found sub-MOA loads in my 243, with bullets under 100gr, (not including 100gr,) could be had with H-414. Take a look at the on-line Hodgdon reloading data center at http://data.hodgdon.com/main_menu.asp and just walk thru the clicks until you get to the .243 data.

But then, don't ask me why I ever sold my .243. I'm still kicking myself over that one.
