Are you sure the barrel is shot out? There could be other issues making the rifle not shoot accurately. The first think I would check would be the scope and the scope mounting system, then the stock. There have been plenty of folks that bought rifles that didn't shoot, replaced a broken scope or scope mount and ended up with a fine shooting long gun.

My suggestion would be to become a paid member so you had access to the classified ads. There are usually takeoff and aftermarket barrels for sale there, and if you wait long enough, something that you want will come up for sale.

This barrel is shot out for sure lucky if it will hold a 6in group at 100 yards. I have built several rifles mostly 700 action's and Mauser actions. And bunch of diff Ar's I am thinking of a 6.5x47 lupua in a varmint contour if I have to buy a custom barrel. It will be a megowen. My 280AI I built several year's ago with a megowen barrel 16 1/4 long will shoot with anything I have ever been to the range with. But I was really just trying to rebarrel this rifle as cheap as I can.

Burky, I'm really really loving my CBI barrel. So much so I don't think I'll go with anything else. I've got it in 243 and it's a hammer to 600 yards with 95smks and 42 gr of h4350.

I have been reading some very good reports from CBI. I may have to try one out.

A lot of folks have had success with Shaw barrels from Gun Shack, an advertiser on this web site. Their prices seem reasonable and the barrels do seem to shoot.

I know this is an old post but +1 for shaw barrels from Gun Shack.
brought my 300 win mag from 4 moa to less than one
awesome people to deal with and shipping was crazy fast.
that being said, i think the build i'm working on right now will be wearing a mcgowan. not because there is anything wrong with shaw but because i can never leave well enough alone.
