Rifle didn't come with scope base?

I just ordered a 10TR, and from all my reading, it should have come with a scope base. I looked throughout the whole box thinking they might do it like ruger and have the base just floating around. Well, to my dismay, it wasn't in there. Even when I ordered the rifle, the guy at the shop said it should come with one. I don't know why I didn't think of it while I was picking it up.

Anyway, should I just call Savage about this, or take it up with the shop? I figure the shop would be harder as they go through a distributor.

Ads on gunbroker, reviews from other people here and in snipershide, when my LGS explained what was listed with it.

compare to fcp-k/fp-sr, seem the spec is very similar. but much cheaper, so not sure if they cut any corner to make it cheaper or its a solid product.

You might contact both savage and the dealer you bought it from. Had the box been opened?

No. My dealer just got it in today and i picked it up. It seems it should have come installed

Mine is waiting and my gun dealer, I get home Friday and will pick it up on the way home from the airport. Will ley you know if it comes with the scope rail. It is supposed to.

Every photo of the 10TR just makes it look like suck a cool gun!!!!

telsonman, how big is the barrel at the muzzle brake?? Did you get the 24 inch or 20 inch barrel?

I called this morning. They said it should have come with the base. They said they'll ship it out today and it should take about 3 days to get. Good people to talk to too!

One more day, my Midway order is at my home, 308 ammo and a muzzle brake. My 20 inch 10TR is at the FFL dealer gun store, waiting for me to pick it up.

I'm supposed to pick mine up this coming week. I asked the dealer and he said it didn't have the base but that the last one he sold didn't either. He said the last one only took a quick call to Savage to get one on the way. I hope so because it would definitely save a dollar or two. Does anyone know if it meets picatinny rail spec and if it's made of steel? That tidbit would probably help me make up my mind whether to spend the coins on Badger rings or not.

BHJ, If I am not mistaken Savage had a contract with EGW. I am 99% certain it is aluminum. I think their stuff was mil spec 1913 not weaver. Just a hunch but EGW was selling some stuff that had the mounting screw holes of a little bit, maybe .010- .015. Was there a recall or product not ready to ship at deadline? It could be possible. This was just my personal "hunch". If you use EGW spend the money and get the torx screws. Defiantely worth it when you go to take off the rail.

I love my 10TR, with the JP brake recoil with 147 and 150 GR ammo is not bad at all. About the same as my 6.8 SPC, and less than my 6.5 Creedmoor. Shot 52 rounds yesterday and anther 28 today. Local range lets you get 3 boxes, so I picked up another 3 of the Armscore 147 GR. Ordered 10 boxes of 150GR Norma Tactical Target today.

So long as you are not looking for the Federal 168 SMK, 308 is available.
