I'm in the process of building a 308 target/hunting rig

- Target Action RBLP
- HS LRPV Stock
- Shilen 26" Bull Barrel 308 1-12 twist
- Warne 2pc steelbases/Burris Signature zee rings and Undecided on scope

I would like feedback on the following bullets and your experience with them. I am concerned with accuracy and bullet jump since my experience tells me to seat bullets at least on diamenter deep in the neck.

Sierra 110 GR Varmiter
Hornady 110 GR V-Max
Nosler 125 GR Ballistic tip

I used to shoot a lot of Sierra 110HP in a 30-06 using 4895 and 4064 at about 3400/3450fps. They would shoot 1" or 3/4" with 4064.

Don't count on salvaging a lot of pelts.

I have had spotty success with the 110 vmax over 44.5 grains of 10x, max is 45.5. They shoot somedays, then suck others. Personally what i am doing is going with my very good 155 sencar load for varmin. Excellent accuracy and plenty of power for anything. That is until I build a dedicated varmint rifle.

Gary, what kind of performance are you getting with those noslers on varmin? Do they act like a good ballistic tip and shred what they hit, or do they stay together? I have thought about working with those bullets and may order some on my next order.

I have outstanding luck with 110 grain VMax over 47.5 grains of Varget. Haven't had a chance to get after woodchucks with them yet, but the fox I shot with one of them was "jellified".

Havent tried them either, but might consider some of the Barnes' MPG's. A light, frangible bullet, but longer to better get into the rifling and a better purchase by the rifling. The 30cal offering is 140gr.

They have other lighter bullets I think. They are a LOT cheaper than the TSX typs as well.

What about these?

Make them for 308 win. When I had a 308 norma I was seriously looking into getting some loaded up and see what happened..

ANY 308 bullet of 110gr or similar weight will be sucky at 400yds.

ive use the 125 TNT, the 130 speer HP, and the 125 BT and the 110 Vmax...

the BT is NOT built as a varmit bullet, and it will come out the other side quite intact... beware...

the others all blow big holes, and are all accurate.... the 110 Vmax has the better ballistics at 400+

i use 748 as well
