View Full Version : Savage 99: Crap... screw on my Lyman 56S just broke (got it out, but need a replacement)

I was cleaning up my Lyman and carefully taking it apart and the screw that holds the side tension nut broke in half across the head. I was still able to get it out w/o buggering the rest of it, but, I am not pleased. These tiny screws are nearly impossible to run down and I'd rather spend $15 towards a different peep sight than on a single screw.

NOTE: The screw I am talking about is on the left side, and mine does not have the peep sight setup in the photo... this is one I google'd while the NSA hunts me down.

Well, maybe this is a sign I need to dump my Lyman 56S on the forum or on Ebay and get an actual Marbles tang sight.

My 99 in 300SAV is NOT tapped for scope mounts (thank heavens) and is a real shooter.

The rear sight dovetail on the barrel has a "Marbles" labeled blank on it and I am really tempted to just get the Marbles rear sight and a new "ivory" or "gold" front bead.
