Intermediate action ?

Hi guys, I have a 112V single shot action.(4.52 action screw spacing) Right now I have a 6mmbr barrel on it. Shoots great, but feel that the action is wasted on a short case. So, could I use a 300wsm? Is the bolt head different from the newer short action's? I might leave it alone, but just want to know. I have a 12fv 308 that has done me well over the years but was thinking I could put the 6mm barrel on that action and get a 260, 300wsm etc for the 112 to make it a true long range rifle...
