Want to buy a .17 rifle and have pretty much decided on the Savage 93r.

Some comments I've seen speak of making sure to get the Bull barrel.

How do I know if the one I'm looking at has the bull barrel. Is there a particular model # I should be looking for or do they all have the bull barrel?

"Bull barrel" is a generic term, usually meaning heavy or full diameter. Savage makes 2 versions of barrels on the 93's. The sporter, and the varmint barrel. The varmint barrel is .800" in diameter and cylindrical while the sporter is tapered to about .560" at the muzzle.

You want one with the "V" in the name. Stands for varmint and is still plenty light to carry around. I picked up one about a month ago and couldn't be happier.
