" The New Savage "

I bought a new Savage 111 THXP in 6.5X284 and "WOW". This is the second Savage I have ever fired and all I can say is where have I been the last 50 yrs. of my shooting and hunting career. This rifle is very accurate and easy to customize to anyone's personal taste. But what has me really excited is how easy the barrel was to clean and how smooth it felt with the rod and patches. I cleaned one for a friend about 20 years ago and it felt like it was made out of concrete, but not this one. It's as smooth as glass and no tight spots. I was able to achieve 3/4" groups pretty easy. It will do a lot better. Sorry for ranting or not having a problem, but I just had to tell someone.

x brand will never be accurate enough to be interesting anymore
not to mention a platform flexible enough to build from a 223 to a 458 on
if you shoot a barrel burner cartridge Savage is the way to save $
even if you don't shooting tiny little groups with a 300.00 gun
sitting next to a guy shooting moa with a 7000.00 gun
is priceless

I have a few shooting friends I shoot with and needless to say, they have the mind frame you mentioned.
When I 1st purchased my Savage, I purchased a $150 tactical 6x24x44 scope (BSA) from Miday to bolt on to my Savage with rings that I purchased via E-bay for a whopping 25 bucks.
I took my Savage out to shoot with my so called shooting partners only to be dog,d to no end because of what I had bolted to my Savage...oh dear lord, they gave me the rath of the know-it-alls. I kept my mouth shut, didnt say anything. When the day arrived to shoot 100 out to 1K @ 100yd intervals, me,my Savage,and my $150 scope serv,d up humble pie and smack,d every steel target. I was the only one to do so that day. That day convenced me to no end just how accurate Savage rifles can be.
My shooting buddies spent upwards of 1-2K just on scopes and no telling how much on there chassi systems on there Remingtons
